Chai Bar @ Oasis Square, Ara Damansara

 Hi.

Recently I finally took the effort to head onto Chai Bar @ Oasis Square. They've recently opened a secondary branch at Bangsar but I thought I'd go to the original one to try it out for the first time.

Considering I love salads and would become a vegetarian if I don't also love fish and chicken, I certainly can't deny that I am ancient.

I know Chai Bar has been around for a couple of years now (or more) but just never got around to trying it. Well, Yay Me.

Onto the current menu as of February 2016:-

Asian-inspired
Seasonal Salads as of date
Dressings
Seasonal Dressings as of date
Drinks
Juices
Smoothies
I picked up 'California Girls' and a Breakfast Smoothie at 4PM because I thought it wouldn't fill me up... But this bowl was ginormous. Completely worth the money! As for the Wasabi Mayo dressing, it was pretty generic and tasted like Kewpie to me. Otherwise, all in all, I did like the salad and all ingredients were fresh.
California Girls (RM 21) and Breakfast Smoothie (RM 10.50)

As for the Breakfast smoothie, it's definitely on the 'healthier' side so don't expect Boost Juice smoothies. I thought the drink had a weird sour taste to it too but I couldn't tell if it was bad bananas or just the yoghurt. I leaned towards the earlier TBH but my bestie thought it was the latter. I didn't get diarrhea or anything so I guess it could have been the yoghurt.

I would definitely return as I'm yearning to try that Soba-fu.

Breadfruits @ Desa Sri Hartamas

Hello.

I don't know when Breadfruits changed their menu but the menu has certainly expanded big time since the last time I visited the place over a year ago.

Caramel Macchiato (RM 9.50), Wild Honey Latte (RM 11.50) and Frutti French Toast (RM 21.80)

First off, the breakfast/brunch menu sounds delicious and inviting. To our disappointment, what we ordered (at 3PM lol), the Frutti French Toast, was very underwhelming. The bread was flavorless and boring. Altogether, the dish was plain, subpar and disappointing. I reckon if you're a health freak then you might like this dish cause you might be used to boring and subtle flavors (no offense) but if not, this french toast is definitely one to skip. The only element that we kinda liked was the passionfruit honey sauce which was pretty much the only thing that gave more flavors to the dish. The bananas were meh and the strawberries were just sour - but hey - can't complain about the fruits because they're just fruits. Lol.

What we loved and knew we would love (because we've tried it before) were the coffees. I know most people have juices here but I'm not one to pay double digits for boring blends (again, no offense). I must add, however, that I've tried the coffee several times here and I've always liked them. They aren't the best amongst the best but I don't suppose Wild Honey lattes are easily found elsewhere anyway.

Merchant's Lane @ Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur

Revisits.

---
7th January 2016
Iced Organic Green Tea Latte, Iced Latte, Cold-brewed Earl Grey Latte

Merchant's Lane recently 'changed' their menu and officially removed an item I anticipated most upon the launch of the cafe: EARL GREY SOFTSERVE :'(

Instead, they introduced a new Cold-Brewed Earl Grey Latte, served hot. It's nice but somewhat tasted like regular English tea to me with a hint of Earl Grey. Compared to the Organic Matcha Latte, I would easily pick the latter in terms of flavor.

11th September 2015
Chicken Tenders Salad (RM 17), Hashtag Salmon (RM 26), Organic Matcha Latte (RM 13) & Rose Honey Milk (RM 12)
As expected, the Organic Matcha Latte had little to disappoint as the matcha flavors were definitely prominent and of quality. The rose honey milk was o-kay, tasted predictable but if you're all for Instagram then this is all for your camera.

As for food, I loved the South China Sea I had during my first visit but decided to give other dishes a go; such as the Chicken Tenders Salad which was very generous in portion (think Chili's salads) and delicious. The chicken tenders were too nerve-y but otherwise, flavors were definitely on point. The deep fried salmon of Hashtag Salmon was also delish - perfectly cooked on the inside and crispy on the outside.

From these two additional dishes I have officially labelled Merchant's Lane's food as remarkable.

28th July 2015

The Taukay (RM 20), 5oz latte (RM 11), South China Sea (RM 24), Hot chocolate (RM 12)
Upon visiting, I found out that Merchant's Lane had EARL GREY SOFT SERVE ON WAFFLES just like Singapore's Sunday Folks (!!!!!!) and was beyond excited. To my despair the item was not available yet so I opted for South China Sea. Luckily, the dish was good and was definitely distinctive from other brunch dishes around. The construction and thought process seemed pretty legit but prices were still affordable - which is definitely the cafe's plus point atm. The fried mushrooms on The Taukay were delicious and definitely not pasar malam quality. The drinks were good too, not great but certainly no complaints.

Menu as of 28th July 2015

TBH, I can't wait to revisit except for the fact that it's located in KL and the private parking spaces are total rip-offs!

Tous Les Jour @ Bangsar

So Tous Les Jour came up with their kitchen menu way long ago but I never got around to trying it because of all the negative reviews I've heard (lol). At a random 4PM, I decided to give the Eggs Benedict a chance since I wanted to grab a green tea latte anyway.

Eggs Benedict (RM 13.90)

Firstly, for RM 13.90 the portion is pretty good. Although you get one egg, you get one whole English muffin, ham, side salad and three long ass bacons. The hollandaise sauce definitely had lemon infused in it but all in all, the dish is pretty all right!

By the way, Tous Les Jour's green tea latte had always been the bomb to me..... when served hot.

Sparkly Glitter New Year's Eve/ Party/ Night Look

Whenever the New Year approaches, it calls for one thing: Sparkle!
The look is quite mainstream really, but I suppose the holiday season justifies bold or exaggerated makeup looks. That means you'll be able to get away with tons of sparkles and glitter dust on your face for at least this time of the year.

Nonetheless, OTT or not, as long as it looks good you bet you can rock it.

This look shines best under the night sky as the glitters capture the light.
